The Head of Academic is required to lead, manage and develop the department to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards of excellence in all its activities.

Job Duties

Content / Lesson Development

  • Maintain and update the content development process and standards for all programmes.
  • Plan and establish all resources for content development, including qualified writers, proofreaders, and others.  
  • Monitor the content development processes to ensure high-quality output in a timely and reliable manner (including the development of "buffer" lessons).
  • Study content usage and effectiveness to make improvements.
  • Analyse English language needs, develop, curate and customise courses to fit client needs, and make recommendations for ongoing curriculum development and delivery.
  • Execute the implementation of programmes and systems in the client's schools/ institutions.
     

Programme Standards & Quality Assurance

  • Understand major language and academic standards and assessments such as, but not limited to: CEFR, SPM, MUET, UEC, IGCSE, TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, GSE, Cambridge Levels.
  • Develop, document and deploy a recognisable academic and teaching standard for all programmes.
  • Analyse content against national and international standards and curriculum maps, state adoption specifications and other applications as needed.
  • Maintain quality assurance measurements (e.g. from students, teachers and school administrators) and tools that assess the effectiveness of all programmes developed.
  • Conduct, monitor and collaborate with clients in terms of orientation, teacher training and development needs, student learning needs, evaluation of performance, lesson plans, teachers' classroom techniques, etc., to achieve the desired results.
  • Assist in the academic audit of client schools

  • Be aware of trends in education and technology to stay informed about new possibilities in enhancing student learning and programme efficiency.
  • With this knowledge, champion the Academic Vision of Sunago by charting product development pipelines for future products to suit client demands.
  • Organise teacher training sessions and other academic events for clients and prospects.

Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in TESL or related field; a postgraduate qualification (e.g. MA in Applied Linguistics) is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of ESL teaching and 2 years in academic leadership.
  • Strong experience in curriculum planning, instructional leadership, and teacher training.
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex academic operations and lead diverse teams.
  • High adaptability, service-oriented, and a student-first mindset.

Technical Understanding

  • General understanding in the areas of e-learning, application programming, database and system design.
  • Understands cloud-platform capabilities, among other new technological advancements in education.
  • Thorough understanding of company capabilities.
  • Awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application in client engagements.
